Mount Merapi (peak altitude of 2,930 masl, as of 2010) (Hanacaraka: ꦒꦸꦤꦸꦁ ꦩꦼꦫꦥꦶ) is a volcano in the central part of Java Island and is one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia. The southern slopes are in the administration of Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, and the rest are in the Central Java Province, namely Magelang Regency on the west side, Boyolali Regency on the north and east side, and Klaten Regency on the southeast side. The forest area around the peak has been the Mount Merapi National Park area since 2004.
